Detroit Council President Charles Pugh escaped the public eye in June after a mother accused him of trying to serenade her high school son with gifts and cash in an attempt to have sexual encounters with the teenager.
Since then, Pugh has been spotted in New York and Seattle and has declined numerous media interviews.
Now, less than two months after the Oakland County prosecutor said there wasn’t enough evidence of a crime, the teen plans to sue Pugh for at least $1 million, Deadline Detroit reported.
Pugh was acting as a mentor for the teenager, whom the council president gave money in exchange for a nude video.
According to Deadline Detroit reporter Allan Lengel:
Farmington Hills lawyer Bill Seikaly filed legal papers Thursday afternoon in U.S. Bankruptcy Court indicating that the student plans to sue Pugh in the capacity as a city council president, former Mayor Dave Bing and the city of Detroit for “personal injury” and “violation of civil rights.” Under the city’s bankruptcy proceedings, a lawsuit against the city must be filed and litigated in bankruptcy court.
Thursday’s filing is the first step in beginning the lawsuit proceedings. One document says that the student will seek at least $1 million.
“If Charles Pugh and anyone else thinks this is going to go away, they’re mistaken,” said Seikaly Thursday night.
We couldn’t reach Pugh’s attorney for comment.
Here’s a sampling of Pugh’s texts to the teen, as we reported in December:
“I wanna see your body. Front and back. So the video has to show everything. lol. #EVERYTHING.”
“Strip down, then set up the cam, then walk around a little bit…Lemme know and I’ll bring your cash when I get the iPod. Please erase these messages bro.”
“Truth is: I’ve had a crush on u all year!! I just couldn’t say or do anything about it until now.”
“Dude, if anyone finds out about this: I’m dead. So please keep this between us.

After the mother caught on, Pugh texted:
“Tell your mom to call me. We can work something out. This is crazy. I just wanted to help you :-(”
“I’ll do anything bro. This will bring down everything. I’ve work to do and how I want to help this city. PLEASE. I just wanted to help.”
Two weeks later, Pugh disappeared.
