A 7-year-old was mauled by a dog on Detroit’s west side Sunday evening and then accidentally shot by a neighbor who was trying to kill the canine, police said this morning.
The neighbor responded after seeing the boy getting attacked by the dog on the 7600 block of Warwick. The neighbor shot at the dog but hit the child, whose condition was unknown early today.
The boy was rushed to the hospital.
Dog attacks are almost a daily occurrence in Detroit because the animals are often mistreated and taught to be aggressive.
