Peru-based developer Fernando Palazuelo is more than $80,000 delinquent on property taxes and late fees on the abandoned Packard Plant that he purchased six months ago at a tax-foreclosure auction.
Bill Hults already paid $200,000 in nonrefundable deposits for the 40-acre ruins.
The carjacking is just the latest attack at what has become a lawless wasteland on Detroit’s east side.
Now the city must make a tough decision – take possession of the property or sell it for pennies on the dollar.
