Seven people, including three children, were injured when a fire broke out inside their east-side Detroit home early this morning.
Firefighters received a call at 1:33 a.m. about an occupied house fire.
“Several civilians are trapped inside the dwelling,” a dispatcher told firefighters as they rushed to 8802 Bessemore.
The house was engulfed in flames.
Some of the occupants suffered injuries from jumping out of the house to escape the flames.
Among those injured were children ages 1, 3 and 4.
One of the children was clinging to life this morning.
Some news outlets erroneously reported that the child died early this morning.
Fire officials believe the cause was electrical.
