When McKean asked what he did wrong, the deputy responded: “You’re making people nervous. They said you had your hands in your pockets.”

McKean, who lives in Pontiac, was shocked.

“Wow, walking by having your hands in your pockets makes people nervous to call the police when it is could outside?”

The deputy responded, “Yes.”

McKean said he was recording the interaction in the wake of the Ferguson shooting that left an unarmed black man, Michael Brown, dead.
