Downtown lights

Downtown will be aglow with 350,000 lights as thousands of people descend on Campus Martius for the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday.

Events begin at 5 p.m. The tree lighting is planned for 7:45 p.m.

The 60-foot-tall, 10,000-pound Norway spruce was grown in Cadillac and will be aglow with 19,000 LED lights.
