His executive assistant, Amy Hichez, alleges in a defamation lawsuit filed Wednesday that Dillon’s ex-wife had defamed her by accusing her and the treasurer of having an affair.

The suit comes after low-key Andy Dillon was thrust into the spotlight last week after prosecutors said they were investigating accusations that he assaulted his ex-wife, Carol Dillon, in an attempt to delete racially charged text messages he had sent her. In the same week, he acknowledged for the first time publicly that he had been battling alcoholism and quit drinking in January.

Carol Dillon, a mother of four, said she was shocked to learn she was sued over a Facebook post, which she stands behind but deleted after a few hours in May.
“I can’t believe she’d want to drag this out,” Carol Dillon told me. “Shouldn’t they be focused on work?”
Hichez referred comments to her attorney, Debra Pospiech, who couldn’t be reached Wednesday night.
