Baby saved from womb of fatally shot mom in Detroit

The 9-month-old baby girl was removed by C-section from the deceased mother, who was 23 years old, at Henry Ford Hospital.

The newborn appeared to be doing well shortly after 6 p.m.

The expectant mother was killed when she rushed to the aid of a 25-year-old relative who had been shot outside their family home at the 9200 block of Myers. Also shot was an elderly man, who was in serious condition at Henry Ford Hospital.

Police are looking for the suspect, who fled in the 25-year-old’s car.
