The city of Detroit is disciplining and threatening firefighters for expressing concerns about public safety and dangerously defective rigs, a violation of whistleblower protection laws.
The damage occurred after Grosse Pointe Park officials acknowledged at a public meeting recently that they may back out of an agreement with Mayor Mike Duggan to remove the sheds.
“If we don’t show up in force and demand that this type of behavior should not be tolerated, we might as well rewind the clock to the 1950s,” Daryl Brown said.
Firefighters were shocked to find two men asleep in a car outside of the burning building.
With a 7-2 vote, Detroit City Council rejected putting on the ballot a tax hike to raise about $56 million a year.
