Detroit officials were quick to defend the seizure of a 2-year-old dog, but they refuse to answer the bigger questions of accountability and deplorable conditions at the shelter.
Veronica Seward was horrified when she saw her 2-year-old pit bull bleeding profusely, laying motionless in a pile of his own feces inside a dirty cage at the Detroit Animal Control Shelter.
The pledge by the mayor means the dogs won’t be seized and euthanized if the rescue group gets its proper paperwork.
The pit bulls were confined to a burning basement.
At least three of the shelters are in metro Detroit and involve privately and publicly run facilities.
