Paramedics frantically try to rescue a man from his burning car in Detroit

The car erupted in flames just before paramedics arrived.

The brother of the victim found the body in the basement, still soaked from when the house was hosed down.

This is a very serious situation because the Fire Department fights more than a dozen house and building fires a day.

It was a frigid, frustrating and overwhelming 14 hours for Detroit’s exhausted firefighters.

The eighth art-festooned house at the world-renowned Heidelberg Project was destroyed Sunday morning in yet another suspicious fire.

The number of fires on Devils’ Night has plummeted since its peak in 1984.

Nearly 40 fires – most of them suspected arsons – broke out in houses, apartments and garages between Thursday and Friday morning in Detroit.
