A Detroit cop has been suspended over “zoo animals” comment; a demo worker called Detroit employees the N-word; and firefighters and police are getting infested with bedbugs.
Sen. Coleman Young II called for a special prosecutor today to investigate Mayor Duggan’s demolition program after Motor City Muckraker revealed last week that the U.S. Attorney’s Office leaked favorable information about Duggan to the media.
The probe centers around the rising costs of demolitions and questions about whether Duggan and other city officials schemed to award contracts to preferred companies.
The city of Detroit released an impressive interactive map and database that show all 7,740 demolitions, how much each cost and who received the contracts since Mayor Mike Duggan took office in January 2014.
