The top ranking Democrat on the U.S. House committee investigating the Flint water crisis blamed partisan politics on the failure to hold Gov. Snyder accountable.
Gov. Snyder said he wants to explain how “all levels of government” failed to protect Flint residents from being poisoned by drinking water.
One congresswoman said: “I’m mad as hell. We need to shut the governor’s office down!”
The news comes on the same day the FBI confirmed it was investigating officials’ role in the Flint water crisis.
In a separate development, a Republican-led Congressional hearing won’t include Snyder, even though he accepted blame for thousands of Flint residents being poisoned.
He holds the distinction of being Michigan’s first African-American to serve in Congress and only the third black man on the current 435-member House roster.
