When administrators closed Cass Tech High School in 2005, they left behind thousands of desks, text books, student records, pop machines, pianos, school supplies and trophies.
Tucked inside one of the school’s art rooms were hundreds of pieces of award-winning art dating back to the 1960s.
A month before demolition began last summer, I scooped up the art in hopes of showing it once again.

School officials declined to comment on the found work, most of which was entered into art competitions before collecting dust in drawers.
Cass Tech was known for its artists and musicians.
Creative alumni include artists Ray Johnson, Judy Pfaff, Berta Rosenbaum Golahny, Harry Bertoia and Charles M. Wysocki Jr.
