The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office received a warrant request today for sexual assault charges against Tigers relief pitcher Evan Reed.
Reed, 28, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the Motor City Casino Hotel last month, just before the baseball season began.
Reed’s attorney said his client has cooperated with Detroit Police, who requested the warrant.
“A thorough review of all of the evidence must be conducted before a decision can be made,” Prosecutor Kym Worthy’s spokeswoman Maria Miller said this morning. “A charging decision is not expected this week. No further information about the case will be released until a charging decision is made.

The victim told police she met Reed at a Royal Oak bar and later went back to his hotel room at the Motor City Casino.
On the field, Reed has been effective. He pitched in relief in 17 games this season, striking out 14 and giving up six earned runs.
