Police on Tuesday arrested the man suspected of stabbing and slashing two Detroit medics who were helping an injured woman in the Cass Corridor.
The man, who was wanted for a 2006 homicide, was arrested and charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and other crimes not connected to the EMS attack.
The suspect was identified as Michael Montgomery, 30, of Detroit.
Charges are pending in the attack that severely injured EMTs Alfredo Rojas and Kelly Adams. The medics were tending to a woman with an injured ankle at 12:30 a.

Police said the suspect lunged at Rojas, stabbing him and slashing him in the face before Adams intervened and was severely cut. The medics rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital in their ambulance with serious lacerations to their hands and faces.
Mayor Mike Duggan said Adams may have saved Rojas’ life.
Interim Fire Commissioner Eric Jones plans to meet soon with Police Chief James Craig to discuss self-defense for medics.
