Gov. Snyder takes heat for new firework law after loud night

“Celebrate the birth of your country by blowing up a small portion of it.” – The Simpsons

Boom, boom, bang. Boom.

All day. All night.

It was the first Fourth of July since Gov. Rick Snyder legalized louder, more powerful fireworks. Revelers celebrated by firing off a seemingly endless supply of ear-splitting explosives.

The auditory onslaught deafened the spirits of many metro Detroiters who couldn’t sleep or were on constant edge.

By the dozens, frazzled people bombarded Snyder’s Twitter account with complaints, sarcastic banter and some odd comparisons.
