Propane gas explosion injures 3 people in commercial building in Detroit

Three factory workers were injured during a suspected gas explosion in a commercial building on Detroit’s east side this morning.

The workers were trying to repair a leak on a propane tank when the explosion occurred shortly before 9 a.m., blowing a hole through the west side of the building at Grinnell Avenue and Grace, according to the fire marshall. Lasix 40mg

Two people were hospitalized: A 40-year-old Roseville woman, who was in serious condition, and a 65-year-old Harper Woods woman, who was in stable condition. Another employee received treatment at the scene for minor injuries. levaquin 750mg

More than 50 firefighters were called to the second-alarm blaze. Firefighters originally feared people were trapped inside and attempted a daring rescue, but people who escaped said everyone made it out. nexium 40mg

The building exploded, and all four walls had collapsed when firefighters arrived. Firefighters quickly asked for additional help and upgraded the fire to a second-alarm.

The city may demolish the building soon because of safety hazards.

Saving someone trapped inside a building is no routine task for the fire department because of malfunctioning rigs and trucks that sometimes fail to raise the ladder for rescues.

The fire was out at 11:34 a.m., firefighters reported.
