Award-winning documentary about Detroit firefighters to make Motor City premiere

Critically acclaimed documentary, “Burn,” a feature-length film about Detroit’s distressed firefighters, will make its Motor City premiere Sept. 28 at the Fillmore.

The documentary follows the crew of Engine Company 50, one of the busiest and most dangerous firehouses in the country.

Critics have praised the documentary for its intimate, sincere portrayal of life as a Detroit firefighter.

The film was shot despite disapproval from Mayor Dave Bing’s Office, which has prevented other filmmakers from embedding with emergency services because of the potential to embarrass the city.

But “Burn” is anything but an embarrassment, critics have said. Rather, the film portrays the brave commitment of firefighters who do whatever it takes to save lives.

“Burn” premiered nationally at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City in April and won the festival’s coveted Audience Award.

Tickets for the Detroit premier go on sale at 10 a.m. Sunday. Prices range from $25-$40.

Tickets will be available at 800-745-3000, livenation.com and ticketmaster.com, and on limited occasions, The Fillmore and St. Andrew’s Hall.

Doors open at 6 p.m.
