While the Tigers tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Twins Friday evening, Detroit firefighters helped extinguish a small fire at a restaurant at Comerica Park.
The Detroit Fire Department said none of the 40,000-plus fans at the game were in danger because the fire was small and quickly contained.
During the ninth inning, fans reported hearing fire alarms and seeing strobing lights. The audio system at the ballpark also was disrupted as fans were left wondering what was going on.
The fire was at the Tigers Club, a restaurant and bar along the first base line.
Firefighters were called to the ballpark at 10:21 p.m. and reported that the fire was out at 10:35 p.m.
It wasn’t immediately clear what started the fire and where in the restaurant it started.
