A villain or a hero?
Billionaire Dan Gilbert is a polarizing figure, often portrayed as a savior of downtown Detroit or a con artist who made his fortunes selling bad mortgages.
Poking fun at the fanatical Gilbert supporters, a Detroit satirist designed a T-shirt, “Gilbert vs. Everybody,” and he’s donating $5 from every sale to the Ruth Ellis Center for homeless LGBTQ youth in Detroit.
“This shirt is a proud way for you to show your allegiance to the unofficial mayor of Detroit and let anyone who you encounter know you’re like Mr. Gilbert,” wrote “Underachieving Detroit Hipster Guy,” a popular meme. “You don’t tolerate any kind of funny business, and asking permission is for common folk – you do what you want, when you want, how you want.

“Underachieving Detroit Hipster Guy” also is donating a third of the proceeds to Motor City Muckraker after we revealed that Gilbert’s property management team placed surveillance equipment without permission on buildings he doesn’t own. Gilbert lashed out at this reporter, calling him a “dirty scum.”
Today, Bedrock removed its surveillance equipment from a building owned by the American Coney Island family but insists we fabricated the story. buy strattera
