Chief ordered everyone out of the house at 4:47 a.m. At 4:28 a.m., the chief asked for a working aerial tower because Ladder 17 wasn’t working properly. Ladder 27 is sent at 4:50 a.m. Ladder 27 arrives at 4:59 a.m. Tower operations begin at 5:05 a.m. There were possible squatters in the house but “we were unable to do a thorough search due to the structural collapse,” a firefighter told dispatch. The basement also was flooded.
