At least one person is dead in Detroit after a police chase ended with the runaway car twisted around a tree and the occupants, including a child, ejected Sunday evening.
Five people were in the car when police began pursuing the white sedan for running two red lights shortly after 8 p.m. Police said the car accelerated and the lost control near E. warren on Courville, striking a tree at a high rate of speed.
The collision killed a passenger, broke the legs of a 9-year-old occupant and seriously injured three others in the car, including the driver, police at the scene said.
