An 11-year-old boy searching for his cat in the woods behind his house in Detroit on Thursday evening discovered what police believe are human remains.
“The remains will be sent to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death, gender and approximate age,” Sgt. Michael Woody told me.
The boy was in a wooded area behind his house just south of W. McNichols near Ridge when he made the discovery at about 5:10 p.m. It was about a block from where Animal Control officers seized three goats and six chickens on Wednesday.
Homicide investigators were on the scene and asked neighbors if they knew of any missing people in the area.
No more details were immediately available.
