You might call it a dive bar.
But for patrons at the Comet Bar, there were few establishments with as much character, earnestness and hometown flavor.
Now the bar at 128 Henry is closing on Wednesday.
First reported by Deadline Detroit, the closing was confirmed by Comet Bar, which held its last karaoke over the weekend.
It’s unclear what prompted the closure, but the building is in the footprint of the new Red Wings arena.
Want to check out a local performance before the bar closes? Musician Don Duprie will be performing tonight.
The Cass Corridor this month also lost its only grocery store, Tomboy.
