Update: Rouse’s family identified Kenneth at the morgue on March 19, three days after this story ran.
Kenneth Rouse could fix anything.
When someone in his west-side Detroit neighborhood had a problem, they turned to Rouse. He’d happily lend a hand or shovel snow when a neighbor couldn’t.
But two days before his 53rd birthday, Rouse and his roommate Richard Holmes was killed in a fire at their house on Rangoon and Clifton on Feb. 9.
His severely burned body sits unclaimed at a morgue because no one has been able to track down his family.
Those who knew Rouse said he has family members in Dearborn, Brownstown Township and Westland. He used to work at Hertz Rent A Car.

“I feel so bad that he’s still at the morgue,” said Darlene Holmes, whose son-and-law, Richard, also was killed in the fire.
