Firefighters battling heavy smoke Monday afternoon found a man in his 20s bleeding against a wall on the front floor of a west-side house in Detroit.
“He’s not OK,” one of the firefighters said outside of the house on the 13000 block of Bentler. “Try to work on him.”
Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the stabbing victim until paramedics arrived about four minutes later. But it was too late.
A firefighter was burned and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
While searching the house after the fire was under control, firefighters found two bodies in the basement. The victims also appeared to have been stabbed. They were left in the basement until investigators arrived.
Firefighters said fires were set in several parts of the house.
