After nearly two weeks of trying to explain why he called Detroiters “dumb, lazy, happy and rich,” the city’s emergency manager Kevyn Orr has finally apologized.
“I would say – very clearly to the people of Detroit – I apologize,” Orr said Wednesday, looking into a WXYZ camera.
Protesters demanded an apologize on Aug. 5.
Orr acknowledged his word choice was “dumb.”
“That was a slip of the tongue,” he said.
Orr first made the comments in a Wall Street Journal story.
