The family that owns furniture retailer Art Van dodged an attack early this morning when someone whipped a molotov cocktail, brick and jar of pasta sauce at their house in Grosse Pointe Farms.
The homemade bomb fizzled out before it caught fire at the $1.7 million Whittier home of Art Van Furniture President Gary Van Elslander, who is the son of the retailer’s founder.
No one was injured but the family is shaken up.
Police said they have a custody in suspect but declined to divulge more information.
