Minister Malik Shabazz, who not so long ago was an outspoken black separatist, was barraged with attacks on social media Monday after he told the Motor City Muckraker he was supporting the only white candidate for Detroit mayor.
Shabazz said he’s softened his position on race and supports outgoing Detroit Medical Center CEO Mike Duggan, the only white candidate for Detroit mayor.
Many black Detroiters were unhappy, calling Shabazz a traitor – all because he supports a white candidate. Here is a sampling of Facebook posts about Shabazz’s support of Duggan.
