More than 125 shootings in June, victims ages 11-82

Red: Fatal · Blue: Non-fatal · Yellow: Critical condition

Shortly after midnight last month, bullets sprayed through a northeast Detroit home, striking three girls, ages 11, 13 and 23.

A week later, an 82-year-old man was shot while stopped at a red light.

And a 27-year-old man at a prayer vigil to end the bloodshed was gunned down and killed.

In all, more than 125 people were shot in June in Detroit, incident reports show. At least 13 of those shootings were fatal.

No area of the city was spared, including downtown, but shootings on the west side continue to increase.

More than 90% of the shooting victims were male. The average age was 30.

So far this year, more than 700 people have been shot, a 2% increase over last year.

June also marks the last month before new Police Chief James Craig took over the beleaguered department.
