10. The Magic Bag

The Ferndale night club was once voted in 1999 by the Metro Times as “the best place to see live music in Detroit.” The Magic Bag continues to schedule metro-Detroit musicians as well as artists from across the country (more of the former than the latter). Its capacity is smaller than most venues on this list at 300, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in acoustics and atmosphere.

This was another stomping ground for the White Stripes, while the Magic Bag has also brought in nationally acclaimed acts such as Jeff Buckley, The Dandy Warhols, Toots & The Maytals, Portugal, The Man, Umphrey’s McGee and Dick Dale.
