DPD investigates why officers let car thieves be released

Detroit Police carThe Detroit Police Department is trying to figure out why none of its officers picked up two car thieves who were being held by Dearborn police last week.

Since DPD officers didn’t show, Dearborn police let the suspects loose.

“This is an internal matter for both of our departments,” spokeswoman Kelly Miner told us. “The facts are being reviewed at this time.”

We wrote about the incident Wednesday. Dearborn police captured two men who had stolen a car from Detroit. Both men had outstanding arrest warrants.

Dearborn released the suspects after DPD was a no-show.

I know a Customs guy who says that Detroit cops won’t go to the tunnel to pick up people trying to smuggle a bag of pot. They can’t be bothered. Duggan has his work cut out for him.
