Detroiter who stole dad’s body to resurrect it won’t be jailed

Grave robberVincent Bright just wanted his dad back.

If he prayed hard enough, he convinced himself, God would resurrect his 93-year-old father.

Not considering the 10 years in prison he could face, Bright removed his father’s body from Gethsemane Cemetery in Detroit and stuffed it into a basement freezer.

Charged with disinterring a body, Bright, then 48, pleaded guilty Monday as part of an agreement to avoid jail.

Bright is expected to receive probation on Sept. 24 in Wayne County Circuit Court.

Bright was determined to be mentally competent to stand trial.
