Photos: Thousands gather downtown in bid to host X Games

What Detroit lacks in luster, it makes up for in sweat.

Thousands of people flooded Campus Martius in downtown Detroit on Tuesday night to show support for the city’s bid to host the ESPN X Games. The city is a finalist. The party, from 8 p.m. to midnight, featured jams by Mixmaster Mike, a DJ for the Beastie Boys, and demonstrations by skateboarders and BMXers.

ESPN was on hand to watch.
