Will drug mule who turns 90 years old today be sentenced to prison?

Leo SharpLeo Sharp isn’t your typical drug mule.

The Indiana man who was hauling cocaine to Michigan drug dealers turns 90 years old today, when a federal judge in Detroit must determine whether to send him to prison.

State police found 104 kilograms of cocaine in Sharp’s pickup truck, leading to charges of possessing and distributing cocaine. An investigation revealed that Sharp was paid more than $1 million to haul the drugs to Michigan.

Saying Sharp suffers from dementia, his attorney is urging Judge Nancy Edmunds to keep the drug courier out of prison.

But prosecutors are recommending that Sharp should be sentenced to five years in prison.
