Thousands of colorfully costumed revelers turned out for the annual Marche du Nain Rouge in the Cass Corridor on Sunday.

As they do every year, the marchers chased away Nain Rouge, a mythological red dwarf bent on destroying Detroit.

The event began at 1 a.m. and ended with a march down Second Avenue to the Masonic Temple.

I guess that you can make up a reason for any street party, cool costumes and all. After the party though, how about some rational, critical thinking about why Detroit is the way it is and how it can change. All this without political correctness and fear of offending.
