A 4-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after he was mauled by as many as four dogs on Detroit’s west side, but it was too late.

The boy died soon after police and paramedics were called to the bloody scene shortly before 12:30 p.m. near the Lodge service drive and Baylis Street.

Police located three pit bulls and killed them. A fourth was taken into custody.

Police said the boy was with his mother on a walk when the attack occurred.

The dogs jumped a fence and attacked the boy.
