While protests broke out across cities nationwide following the grand jury decision not to indict a white police officer for killing a black teenager in Ferguson on Monday night, the streets of Detroit were quiet.

Not today, protesters say.

At least two demonstrations are scheduled for downtown Detroit today, and more are expected to crop up.

The first rally is scheduled for noon outside the Detroit federal courthouse on West Lafayette.

Another protest is planned for 4:30 p.m. at Hart Plaza.

“Solidarity and support for the family of Michael Brown is why we stand up at federal courthouses across the U.S. calling on the Department of Justice to act,” said Rev. Charles Williams II, Michigan regional president for the National Action Network.

Sizable protests broke out in Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis and Oakland, Calif.

Hundreds of people gathered in Hart Plaza for a vigil for Michael Brown in August.
