Detroit ambulance stolen, tracked down as police search for suspects

Update: Police arrested the suspect soon after the discarded the ambulance. 

Brazen thieves stole a Detroit ambulance Tuesday night but didn’t get far.

Police were able to track the EMS rig as it entered an apartment complex on W. Outer Dr. shortly before 11 p.m., about 24 minutes after the ambulance was reported missing.

Police arrested a suspect on the scene.

The incident was first reported by DetroitScanner.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether anything was stolen from the rig or whether it was damaged.
