Video: Gay man harassed outside Fire Mountain restaurant in Lansing

A Lansing man wants to know why Fire Mountain restaurant didn’t do more after a heckler shouted gay slurs at him while he and his friends walked to their cars following dinner Tuesday evening.

Isiah David Tweedie, who is gay, was berated in the parking lot by a customer calling him a “faggot.”

“Fucking faggot,” the customer yelled as he approached the friends. “According to God’s Law, Leviticus, you will be put to death by stoning.”

Tweedie responded that he’d pray for the man.

“Faggots don’t go to heaven,” the man called back.

Tweedie said two employees were outside during the confrontation and did nothing. When a manager eventually came out, Tweedie said the employee was rude and dismissive.

“We came here and spent on a meal, only to leave and be harassed,” Tweedie said.

A manager at the restaurant this morning referred questions to the corporate office, which has not yet returned our calls.
