Fire breaks out at crowded PJ’s Lager House in Corktown; 3 cats die

PJ Lager

Update: 1:15 a.m.

A fire broke out at PJ’s Lager House in Corktown late Monday evening.

Firefighters were called to the popular bar on Michigan Avenue near downtown after an upper-level flat caught fire at 10:40 p.m.

No human injuries were reported, but firefighters said three cats were killed after failed attempts to resuscitate them.

Damage to the bar appeared to be minimal because of fast-acting firefighters, but the apartment was gutted.

Witnesses said a band was playing when the fire broke out.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the fire.

Wait a minute. A person can live above PJ’s?

Put me on the waiting list.

Only problem is, the upper flat that is above the bar was gutted by the fire. There is a second flat, which was not burned. You could get that one. 🙂
