From $1,950 retro bikes to $48 candles, Shinola’s flagship store in Detroit isn’t for everyone.

But it’s hard to deny the allure of the store and its products at the former warehouse for Willys Overland Motor Company on Canfield Street in Midtown, where the bikes are assembled.

The creatively arranged shop offers watches, journals, bikes, shoe polish, iPad covers, U.S. flags, footballs, photography books and leather-covered bike locks. The company’s primary focus is the watches, which start at around $500.

The watches are assembled in the revived Argonaut building, where the company rented a 30,000-square-foot space from the College for Creative Studies.

Detroit is among only a handful of Shinola stores. The others include New York, San Francisco, Kansas City and Paris, France. The company plans to open stores this year in Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington D.C. and other European cities.
