Raised in Detroit and educated at Gesu Catholic School and the Detroit Public Schools’ High School for the Fine and Performing Arts, Aaliyah will become a highly successful recording artist and actress, scoring several hits during the 1990s before her tragic death in a plane crash in August 2001.
