Fire destroys another Heidelberg Project house installation

Another house installation burned down at the Heidelberg Project in Detroit this morning.

The “House of Soul,” which had been adorned with vintage records, burned to the ground after someone appears to have intentionally set the blaze, fire officials said. The house was on Elba, a block from Heidelberg Street.

It was the second fire to destroy a Heidelberg house installation in as many months. In October, a fire consumed the 18-year-old Obstruction of Justice House, melting plastic dolls, toys and other found objects.

The Heidelberg Project was created by Tyree Guyton, who continues to transform blocks of decaying streets into vibrant public art.
