Faulty traffic light may have caused fatal motorcycle crash on Detroit’s west side

Motorcycle crash As police cordoned off the scene of a fatal motorcycle-car collision Wednesday evening, something unusual started happening at the intersection: The traffic lights turned green in all directions.

That’s nothing unusual, neighbors told the Motor City Muckraker after firefighters were unable to resuscitate the motorcyclist at the intersection of Warren and Beechwood.

“Sometimes all the lights are green at once or they flicker and change,” neighbor Asia Maryland told the Motor City Muckraker. “They’re always messed up.”

Neighbors said they’ve complained to the city but never got a response.

Traffic light problems are nothing new. Lights routinely flicker or fade out without warning.

Motor City Muckraker is on the case.
