Influential Republican: Public schools turning children gay; better off being homeschooled

Agema, DavidPublic schools that tolerate homosexuality are churning out gay and lesbian students, warned Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema.

The Facebook posting Wednesday urged parents to remove their children from tolerant public schools before they “indoctrinate” innocent children and turn them gay.

“Or, you can wait until one day, your child comes home and says, ‘Mom, I think I’m homosexual,'” the post, which was originally written by a conservative doctor, read.

The comments were so “deplorable” that 20 Republicans called for Agema’s resignation, according to Dennis Lennox, a Grand Traverse County Republican precinct delegate.

Agema, a former state representatie from Grandville, defended his position, saying it was relevant in light of the U.S. Supreme Court hearings this week on gay rights.

The doctor who wrote the original post, “Frank Joseph, M.D.,” suggested homosexuals were filthy and riddled with STDs.
